Women of Triona | Celebrating International Women's Day
As we celebrate International Women's Day, we at Triona, nestled in Ardara, Co. Donegal, reflect on how the influence of women has profoundly shaped our brand. Founded by Dennis Mulhern in 1984, Triona was named after his daughter, Catriona, and has since become synonymous with the timeless elegance of Donegal Tweed.
While our brand caters to both men and women, our recent international success owes much to an icon of fashion and an inspirational woman, Sarah Jessica Parker. Her choice to wear our Faye Coat on the latest season of "And Just Like That," the "Sex and the City" spinoff, has brought global attention to our craftsmanship.
However, amidst the buzz surrounding SJP, it's essential to recognise the numerous women behind our brand, tirelessly promoting Irish tweed and preserving its heritage in Donegal. Among them is Anne Mulhern, Dennis's wife, whose warmth and storytelling prowess bring the tale of Triona and Donegal Tweed to life. Also integral are Dennis and Anne's daughters, Catriona and Patricia, who play vital roles in running the business.

Notable Irish figures like Mandy Maher, Maura Derrane, Muireann O'Connell, Amy Huberman, Laura Bonner and Emily O'Donnell have also lent their support, showcasing our brand on their social platforms. Yet, on this special day, we want to spotlight the remarkable women within our own ranks who contribute to our success daily.
