Celebrate International Women's Day
International Women’s Day
8th March 2021
International Women’s Day (IWD) is a worldwide event celebrating social, economic, cultural and political achievements by women. The 2021 theme centres around #ChooseToChallenge which asks us to think about how a challenged world is an alert world and from challenge comes change where we're all responsible for our own thoughts and actions - all day, every day.
This year we are in unprecedented times and having to remain safe at home or keeping our distance as to ensure safety for all during covid19. As part of the International Women’s Day celebrations there will be limited activities due to the pandemic. We are encouraging you to show your support and solidarity for the Choose to Challenge campaign and gender equality safely at home by wearing something purple, posing with your hand held high and posting on social media using the hashtag #ChooseToChallenge and #TrionaDesign to commit to helping forge an inclusive world.
By sharing your photos and using these hashtags, the International Women’s Day organisation and Triona may share your pictures on social media and the IWD website.
We at Triona support equality and have made strides in becoming gender equal within our workforce. Typically weaving has been a male orientated industry throughout the past century but we currently have 8 employees who are weavers and out of the 8 we have 4 men and 4 women weavers striking a 50% equal gender share in our weaving workforce. Our weavers specialise in weaving our luxurious Donegal tweeds and Irish tweeds of which are all designed and made in Ardara, Ireland.

Below we have highlighted some of our purple garments that will help you celebrate International Women’s Day. As part of this collection, we think these styles would be a perfect Mother’s Day gift for your mum, Mother’s Day being celebrated on Sunday 7th March in Europe.
